Cyclone Microsystems’ PCIe-462 ten-slot PCI Express Expansion backplane allows system developers to expand one x16 or x8 host PCI Express Gen2 slot to ten additional PCI Express Gen2 x8 slots.  Connection between the installed devices and host PC is via a single x16 or x8 PCI Express cable providing an up to 80 Gb/s communication channel.  As an example, the PCIe2-462 can be populated with up to ten SSD PCIe cards to provide a high-capacity, high-performance storage array.  In addition, the backplane is optionally supported by an Intelligent Expansion Chassis Monitor to report temperature, fan speed and power supply parameters via HTTP or SNMP to an external monitoring station.
